Grading Criteria
Grading criteria for each assignment is included with the prompts and other descriptions that are available in AsULearn throughout the semester. Each assignment generatlly has specific criteria so that you know exactly how to match your work to expectations.
Scoring
Typically, this class uses 11-point scoring. You may wonder why the grading system goes up to 11. Generally, a successful assignment earns 10 points, which is an A-. Yet, if you really go above and beyond to distinguish your work, you can receive an 11. This system comes from my friend and colleague, Jeff Goodman, who was inspired by the mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap (1984). Let's call it the Spinal Tap System. The criteria for earning an 11 is described in the full description on AsULearn so you'll know exactly how to "turn it up."

Assignment Feedback
Our class uses a tiered system of feedback. The first tier is a numeric grade posted on AsULearn in accordance with the grading criteria for a given assignment. Then, if you would like more information related to your performance on a particular assignment, consider reaching out via a thoughtful and detailed email to request level two, or expanded comments. This second level of feedback offers specific comments on your work that discuss your performance as it relates to the grading criteria. Finally, if you would like more detail, then we can move to tier three by scheduling a conversation where we can discuss your performance together.

This tiered feedback approach was inspired by Dr. Lindsay Masland.
Additional information about assessment and grading is provided on the course policies page.
